As a Medical Nutrition Therapist in private practice, Dr. Anastasia fully engages her education and experience, including her Master's degrees in Counseling and Nutrition Communication and Doctorate in Public Health. Dr. Anastasia is recognized by her peers as not only a remarkable practitioner, but also a thoughtful member of your health care team. Areas of interest include working with adults with Type 2 diabetes, lipid disorders, obesity, pregnancy, gestational diabetes, food safety, disordered eating, and working with peri- and postmenopausal women; areas of expertise include establishing healthy relationships with food, working with chronic obesity, stress, and non-adherent patients diagnosed with diabeties.
Anastasia is a very active and sought after speaker having presented over 180 seminars to corporations and law firms throughout New England. The energy, intellect, and humor she brings on a wide range of topics in the field engages audiences of all ages motivating them to new learning and a better understanding. She has published as a primary author, as well as secondary author in the peer-reviewed publication, Nutrition Today. Additionally, she is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist®(fka Certified Diabetes Educator®) as well as ServSafe® Instructor and Proctor. She is Past Chair of the NH Board of Licensed Dietitians.
Dr. Anastasia has been named a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND), the world's largest organization of nutrition professionals. Recognition as a Fellow distinguishes those who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of dietetics with integrity, innovation, and social responsibility. Dr. Anastasia is recognized as a Registered Dietitian (RD), Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), and Licensed Registered Dietitian (LRD).
An accomplished Senior Lecturer/Faculty for the University System of New Hampshire over the past 20 years, she has taught for the University of New Hampshire's Master of Public Health degree program, as well as Granite State College. Anastasia is a past recipient of teaching awards in 2004 and 2009, inspiring hundreds of students toward scientifically-based sound choices. As a mentor, she is professional, ethical, thoughtful, insightful, humorous, engaging, and thorough. Her creativity crosses over into unique curriculum design of new course and program development where she works consistently with a positive team approach. Anastasia has served as a Lead Program Reviewer for the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) ensuring the quality of nutrition and dietetics education programs in the US. She also serves as a member of the NH Oral Health Coalition promoting oral health as a means to improve overall health.
Dr. Anastasia received her BS in Nutrition from Rochester Institute of Technology, her MEd in Counseling from the University of New Hampshire, her MS in Nutrition Communication from Tufts University, and her DrPH in Public Health from Flinders University (Australia) College of Medicine & Public Health.
