How Your Mouth Shapes Behaviors

The mouth is the gateway to the body, so it only makes logical sense that that which we put into it has a great impact on how we, and our thoughts, are ultimately shaped.  You see, what we eat isn't just about what we know, but about who we are.  Why do you overeat?  Why do you eat when depressed or feeling particularly anxious? Who demonstrated that behavior for you, or did you create that habit on your own as a means by which to cope? Is that coping skill working?  It most likely is not, and that is why it needs to change.  But patterns are really difficult to change, especially when considering the powerful role of brain neurochemistry.  Years of habits are stored - or remembered - and every time you repeat that habit it is reinforced.  For that reason alone, changing your behaviors, and ultimately what you put into your mouth, is remarkably challenging.  But together we can make those changes.
